  • Advantage Spurs & Newcastle in EFL Cup, plus FA Cup 3rd round and West Ham pick Potter
    2025/01/09
Jimbo, Michael Cox, Duncan Alexander and Jay Harris cast their collective eye over a very big week of football. Tottenham inflict a rare defeat on Arne Slot’s Liverpool as they take a 1-0 lead to Anfield in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals in a month’s time. Can they reach the final and did Ange have a point about VAR? Newcastle get a dream 2-0 win at the Emirates in their first leg. Have Arsenal gone backwards this season and do the Magpies have any weaknesses right now? Big week at West Ham as The Athletic’s Roshane Thomas tells us. Julen Lopetegui is replaced as head coach by Graham Potter, someone with a point to prove after his 7 month spell at Chelsea. And it’s FA Cup 3rd round weekend. Arsenal v Man United is the standout tie. Or is it non-league Tamworth against Spurs? How many ties is Ashley Young linked to? Those questions answered and more. Produced by Charlie Jones. • Pulisic inspires in the Supercoppa as the Dani Olmo saga continues
    2025/01/07
Jimbo’s back for the first time in 2025 and he’s got James Horncastle, Pol Ballús and Julien Laurens alongside him to run the rule over all the latest action from across Europe. AC Milan kicked off the new year in style as they fought back from 2-0 down to beat rivals Inter 3-2 in the Supercoppa over in Saudi Arabia as new boss Sérgio Conceição got off to the perfect start. Meanwhile, back on home soil Roma continued their resurgence under Claudio Ranieri with a 2-0 victory in the derby with Lazio. In La Liga the Dani Olmo debacle rumbles on… He’s with Barcelona in Saudi Arabia, but he’s not eligible to play after Spain's football authorities rejected the club’s attempt to register the midfielder. On the pitch, Jude Bellingham atoned for his missed penalty with a 95th-minute winner as 10-man Real Madrid snatched a dramatic victory at Valencia to move top of the table. And in France, PSG picked up the first silverware of the season courtesy of Ousmane Dembele’s stoppage-time winner in their 1-0 victory over Monaco in the Trophée des Champions over in Doha. Back in Ligue 1, Marseille closed the gap at the top of the table to 7 points courtesy of their big 5-1 win over Le Havre. No German action to speak of as die Winterpause continues - BUT we do have Dortmund v Leverkusen to look forward to on Friday night as the Bundesliga finally returns. Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend (00.45) • PART 2: Serie A review - Milan stun Inter in the Supercoppa while Roma beat Lazio (08.15) • PART 3: La Liga review - Olmo saga rumbles on as Real leave it late to go top (20.00) • PART 4: Ligue 1 review - PSG lift first silverware as Marseille and Lyon continue good form (32.55) Learn more about your ad choices. • Man United impress in dynamic draw at Liverpool, plus a Saints shambles
    2025/01/05
Jimbo is joined by Daniel Storey, Adrian Clarke and Tim Spiers after an intriguing Premier League weekend. Man United shock us all with a calm but athletic display at Anfield, holding Liverpool 2-2 and denying Arne Slot’s side the chance to go 8 points clear. Was Trent Alexander-Arnold too distracted by the interest of Real Madrid? Arsenal also draw at Brighton with Mikel Arteta unhappy with the officials, while Chelsea make it 4 games without a win after their 1-1 at Palace. Plus the impressive Iraola, Savinho the saviour, what’s wrong with Ange’s suits and are Southampton about to sink even deeper into shambles, on and off the pitch? Produced by Charlie Jones. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1a: Liverpool 2-2 Man United with Laurie Whitwell (03.30) • PART 1b: Fulham 2-2 Ipswich (17.00) • PART 2a: Brighton 1-1 Arsenal (24.00) • PART 2b: Spurs 1-2 Newcastle (32.00) • PART 2c: Man City 4-1 West Ham (38.00) • PART 3: The rest of the Premier League weekend (43.00) Learn more about your ad choices.
