  • #178: Shirley Billigmeier- Put Eating Back in Order with Innergetics
    2022/12/12

For more than 50 years, Shirley has been a coach, teacher, author, speaker, and body image specialist helping women, men, teens, and children resolve their issues with food and eating. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Minnesota in 1971 and 1975, respectfully.  The author of Inner Eating (Thomas Nelson 1991), she created Innergetics in 1994. Shirley has continued to refine the Innergetics process to make it a much more comprehensive, holistic solution than mindful eating alone. Innergetics offers tools that allow you to take a conscious, structured approach, so that you have more control over when you start and stop eating. Every baby is born knowing how to do this; Innergetics helps us recover that knowledge. Clients who adhere to this simple process not only lose weight but keep it off permanently. And they do it from a sense of abundance and respect for the body, rather than through deprivation and willpower. Innergetics will help you regain the true joy of eating. It will teach you how to tune in to your body and feed it what it needs, each and every time you eat. Shirley’s program is all about choice and respect; she will never tell you what to eat or when (that’s completely up to you). If you wait until you are hungry, you can eat whatever you want! Just this past year she developed an online course to teach the Innergetics Process to a wider audience.

Dr. Kavita started out working as a pediatric pain psychologist at Children’s Minnesota. After a decade hearing families skepticism, doubts, and uncertainty that psychology can actually change their health, Dr. Kavita decided to do something about it. And, Peace Out Pain was born – a rebellious company setting out to challenge society’s perceptions about kid’s health, particularly related pediatric stress, anxiety, and pain.

Exciting Projects Dr. Kavita is Working on:

    • Active supporter of Shout Out Loud MN. focused on a mission to normalize the conversation about mental wellness
    • Peace Out Press: Publish books and games to reinforce Peace Out Pain's mission, while encouraging other clinicians to do the same

    • Interactive workshops focused on teaching skills to different age groups

Description of Dr. Kavita's book - Pain, It's All in Your Head (Just Like Everything Else):

Tired of being dismissed by those five painful words, “It’s all in your head”?

Feeling misunderstood when you say “I hurt!”?

Then this is the book for you!

Through humor and friendship, kids learn how the brain “receives” messages and creates sensations. Because the brain is in your head, all sensations (even pain!) are in your head. Quite literally, Just Like Everything Else. With easy to follow logic, those once hurtful words It's In Your Head loose power.

Written as a tool to educate and empower kids, teens, and adults who experience challenging and real medical symptoms, this book is the first step towards breaking the stigma and understanding that symptoms are REAL and IN YOUR HEAD. At the same time.

Get started on your healing journey today!
