  • Episode #7 - Overcoming the Fear of Healing: 3 Strategies to Try this Year
    2024/09/24

#7 - Overcoming the Fear of Healing: 3 Strategies to Try this Year

Three strategies you can implement to overcome your fear of healing in 2024.

I don’t know about you, but I used to worry about when was the perfect time in my life to heal from my past abuse. I was young, starting a new family and it seemed if I waited, I wouldn’t be able to get to it for at least several years. What I learned was that there is no perfect time. That healing would have to fit in with my life the way it was. Busy, emotionally draining, and demanding!

I needed to freshen up on my perspective and embrace the change, pain, and inconvenience of healing. Most importantly, I needed to overcome the fear I had regarding healing. I needed to step out of my comfort zone and make a conscious effort and shake things up in my life. Yes, it scared me a bit.

But ask yourself, where will you be one year from now? What have you been struggling with for years? In this episode, I’m lifting the curtain on how to implement 3 strategies to help you overcome the fear of healing.

    Today, you’ll hear about:

    - [5:50] Why I am a strong advocate for coaches and those that specialize in sexual abuse healing

    - [7:33] Deep-seated trauma and the old coping strategies…. can inadvertently hinder progress towards healing… That is why learning new coping strategies… are so important to your healing process.

-[9:00] Despite the pain and trauma, you have endured, healing is possible

-[16:19] Despite the overwhelming nature of healing, these barriers can be overcomeif you look at the separately

-[19:42] What’s at stake if you stay stuck and avoid healing… you can continue to feel trapped in a cycle of trauma or experiencing emotional paralysis

Listen in and make this year about self-growth and personal healing! It’s time to grow from within and conquer your fears to reach the freedom from the past you desire.

  • Episode #8 - How to Manage Overwhelming Emotions
    2024/09/24

#8: How Managing Overwhelming Emotions can Elevate your Life!

If you’re listening to this podcast, I’m guessing you are ready to learn how to manage overwhelming emotions instead of having them manage you, right? If you ever dreamed of what life would be like without fearing how you manage your emotions and what tools to use, this is the perfect episode to get started.

One of the number one reasons for not starting the healing process is because survivors are afraid of their overwhelming feelings they associate with the abuse. I get it, I’ve been there myself. On the journey to healing there are many new skills you can learn to help improve your life.

In this episode I talk about strategies you can use to help master your overwhelming emotions and learn how to trust yourself to follow through!

    Today, you’ll hear about:

    - [04:28] The belief that you won't be able to manage your emotions during the healing journey is often rooted in past experiences of overwhelming emotions.

    - [11:04] You can implement grounding, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques which are powerful tools for managing overwhelming emotions and fears, especially for survivors of sexual abuse.

    - [18:31] This pressure to maintain emotional control can be particularly harmful to survivors of sexual abuse, because it reinforces the notion that expressing vulnerability or seeking help is a sign of weakness.

-[22:39] The fear of not being able to manage emotions during healing may also stem from a lack of self-trust … Do you continually second-guess yourself?Listen in and learn that there are opportunities and coping strategies that will help you manage your overwhelming emotions, find balance with your emotions, and learn to stop second-guessing yourself and learn how to trust yourself in following through.
