  • Staying Steady When the World Feels Heavy
    2024/11/27

Life, as we know it, can sometimes feel like we’re in the midst of a relentless storm.

The pressures of expectations in life and business can often feel like they’re closing in on us, and finding a moment of peace is much easier said than done.

If you’ve been feeling worn out, weighed down or simply trying to keep it all together, you’re not alone.

Recently, I had a bit of an epiphany, thanks to my English Springer Spaniel, Nalu. Watching her find such peace and calm in the middle of life's chaos inspired me to consider how we can all find our centre even when the world feels heavy.

Here, I want to share with you the six grounding strategies I’ve found to be invaluable. These aren’t just ideas; they’re actionable steps that have helped me and others find balance and resilience:

    1. Anchor Yourself to Your 'Why'

    2. Create a Practice of Pausing and Reflection

    3. Lean on Your Support Network

    4. Set Boundaries on Your Energy

    5. Celebrate Small Wins with Intention

    6. Integrate Self-Care Without Guilt

If there’s one thing I want you to take away today, it’s that every storm will eventually pass. Staying steady, grounded in purpose and calm in spirit will help you navigate whatever life throws your way.

Remember, you have within yourself the strength and resilience to weather any storm. So, whenever you feel overwhelmed, revisit these strategies, trust in yourself and know brighter days are ahead.

  • Healthy Hustle: Thriving in Business Without Burnout
    2024/11/20

If you want to be successful in business you’re going to have to hustle.

Well, that’s what a lot of people think, and they work themselves to exhaustion because of it.

But in reality, things aren’t that black and white. Which is precisely why I invited Vanessa and Nicky, the brilliant co-authors of Healthy Hustle, to join me for a conversation about their latest book.

Healthy Hustle is a guidebook for people who are deep in the business world, people who are established leaders with growing teams, and for anyone who feels stuck in a cycle of endless work. It’s not a get-rich quick guide, but instead an exploration into how business owners can grow their companies without sacrificing their health or their sanity.

You might be surprised that the word “hustle” is in the books title, but it’s not actually advocating to remove hustle from your life. Although it is commonly a drain on people, Vanessa and Nicky argue that hustle, when channelled correctly, can be a source of energy and momentum. "Healthy Hustle" encourages us to embrace those powerful aspects of hustle (like drive and determination) but balance them with your personal joy and wellbeing.

  • How to Turn Free Speaking Gigs into Paid Business Opportunities
    2024/11/13

Free speaking engagements can be a powerful way to build a name for yourself but, like everything we do in business, they come at the cost of our time, energy, focus or money.

So, if you want your speaking gig to be worthwhile you need to make sure you’re getting a return on your investment.

And if you want to make sure you get a return on your investment, you’ll need to be proactive and intentional about leveraging the exposure to generate real opportunities.

When I started my entrepreneurial journey, I took countless free speaking gigs thinking they would help me grow but I quickly realised that wasn’t enough on its own. Since then, I’ve developed strategies to turn these free gigs into gold mines, and today, I want to share them with you!

  • How I Network as an Introvert
    2024/11/06

It might surprise you that I call myself an introvert. Yes, I speak on stages, run events and put myself out there. But where do I truly get my energy? It’s from solitude, thinking and deep one on one connections.

The big crowds? Nah, they're not really my thing. But despite this, I’ve successfully built a network that spans industries, countries and decades. How? Well,  by doing it in my way.

There’s a myth that introverts can’t be brilliant networkers. But let me flip the script for you.

Introverts are actually phenomenal networkers. We don't waste time on the surface level stuff. We dig deep, listen and observe. And these are huge strengths, given that true networking is about forging meaningful, authentic relationships.

Today, we’ll explore the innate strengths that make introverts excel in the realm of building genuine relationships. I also share my own approach to networking and some practical ways you can build meaningful business connections as an introvert.

I challenge you: dismiss the pressure to conform to a louder networking style. Be deliberate, authentic and true to yourself. As you navigate the business world, focused on expanding your network, always remember that your quiet strengths are not weaknesses—they are your superpowers.

  • Why Simplicity Scales and Complexity Fails: The Key to Business Success in a Busy World
    2024/10/23

    Simplicity scales and complexity fails.

What do I mean by this? Well,  we've all been conditioned to believe that  complexity is a sign of sophistication.

It's like if your business model isn't complicated or your marketing strategy doesn't involve 12 different social media platforms, are you even really trying?

I've worked with clients who have been told by the latest coach to add this feature or to try that new marketing strategy - and suddenly it's like they're chasing every single trend under the sun.

But the result  is, they end up doing a lot, without doing anything well.

With my clients, I actually work to simplify things. We move from a smorgasbord of options to a streamlined core offering that makes sense for their customers and makes sense for the business.

So, let’s talk about how you, as a business owner in a busy world, can also free up your resources to improve your core offering and really get the needle moving.

    Today we’ll explore how to:

    • Audit your processes
    • Clarify your message
    • Eliminate non-essentials
    • Ask for feedback

By implementing these strategies in your business, you’ll cut the fluff, focus on the essentials and watch as your business and life begin to thrive.

Remember, complexity might seem alluring, but simplicity is what truly stands the test of time.

  • Business Retreats vs. Health Retreats: Choosing the Right One to Transform Your Growth
    2024/10/16

What do you need right now? Relaxation or activation?

This is the question I ask my clients, many of whom want to know my opinion on how to choose between business retreats and health retreats.

They’re often unsure which holds the most value for them to attend, or even run themselves.

Having run multiple retreats through my Inner Circle, I've seen firsthand the impact that a well structured business retreat can have. I also know how rejuvenating a health retreat centred on self-care can be for busy professionals.

Choosing the right type of retreat can be transformative for you and your business - so let’s have a look at how to make the right decision for you, your wellbeing and your progress.

We’ll explore how business and health retreats differ in what they focus on, the areas of growth they inspire and how to choose the one that best serves you at this moment in your life.

Both retreats offer unique benefits, contingent on your current needs and goals. It is vital to be honest with yourself: is it time for rest or rethinking?

Whatever your choice, the essential step is to act. Whether you’re drawn to the deep rest of a health retreat or the invigorating strategy of a business retreat, I encourage you to listen to your instincts and pursue what you truly need now.

  • Why small thinking limits your business potential
    2024/10/09

Picture this: my adult daughter Taya, eyes wide with excitement, asks if I’d like to participate in a Hyrox challenge with her. Naturally, I said yes! How hard could it be, right?

Little did I know what I was agreeing to. My first thought was that Hyrox might be the name of some trendy new smoothie or a TikTok dance.

A fitness competition, it was like being asked to run a marathon while lifting weights for "fun." My initial reaction was sheer panic, overwhelmed with self-doubt and fear. Yet, accountability—my promise to Taya—kept me from hiding under the covers.

Surprisingly, I found that everything I learnt through completing this Hyrox challenge can be applied to how we face up to the challenges and complexities involved in running a business.

If you’re a business owner wondering how to tackle the tough stuff in business head on, I’ve got some really powerful lessons to share with you on accountability, commitment to the process and transforming fear by taking action.

I challenge you: what’s your Hyrox? What have you been sidestepping because it feels too daunting? Take it on. Dive in anyway and see where the journey takes you.

Remember, brilliance isn’t in getting it perfect from the beginning; it's in learning, adapting and preparing better for the next challenge.
