  • Tuesday winter storm to bring another round of snow to New York City, the Tri-State
    2025/02/11
In this edition of Weather Or Not, Lee is tracking the next winter storm on Tuesday Night into Wednesday. The long storm train continues this week with another string of wintry weather, starting with accumulating snow on Tuesday night. Unlike this past weekend's storm, the range will be from not a flake well north to upwards of a half foot over parts of South Jersey, where a winter storm warning was issued. A winter weather advisory has been issued for parts of the viewing area in New Jersey. Check here for the latest winter weather alerts from the National Weather Service for the New York City and Tri-State area. The northern edge of the accumulating snow will be roughly near I-80 in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. That dividing line will be razor-sharp, so any slight shift in the storm track can result in quite a difference in totals. Anywhere from 1-3 inches of snow is likely in the New York City metro area from central New Jersey to Long Island, New York. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

  • Snow fans left waiting in the cold -- will we see a storm soon?
    2025/01/10
Are more flakes in our future? In this edition of Weather or Not, meteorologist Lee Goldberg examines our winter outlook, addressing a number of questions for the months ahead. Helping to tackle these questions is AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Paul Pastelok. Together, Lee and Paul offer insight about how long the extreme cold could last, why we haven't seen big snow totals yet and if any big storms could develop in our future. And while our area replenished some of our water reservoirs thanks to rain in December, we have taken a step back recently. Paul weighs in on whether or not we should be concerned about a drought in the spring. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

  • Early call on Saturday snow; what's driving LA fires; click-bait social-media forecasts
    2025/01/09
In this episode of Weather or Not, Lee Goldberg is joined by a special guest -- Meteorologist Steven DiMartino of NY NJ PA Weather. Together, they take a look at the catastrophic wildfires that have broken out across Southern California amid a lethal combination of wind and dry conditions. They also break down the potential for snow this weekend when a system tries to sneak up from the south overnight Friday into the early part of Saturday. DiMartino gives his take on areas with the most potential for accumulating snow. Finally, the two meteorologists attempt to navigate and debunk "far-fetched fantasy forecasts" that have taken over social media, and why you shouldn't believe it. These forecasts often include inaccurate modeled snow maps, looking 10 to 15 days out. Lee says that this "short-term gain" mindset often leads to "long-term pain" for those spreading click-bait storm forecasts. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
