The impact of change fatigue
Let's discuss something that affects every single leader I work with: change fatigue. Change fatigue is real. And it's costly.
The research shows leaders experiencing constant change report 65% higher burnout rates and 40% decreased effectiveness in their decision-making. But here's the insight that transformed my own approach to change: The problem isn't necessarily the change itself, it's that we're approaching it through time management instead of energy management. Think about it.
Most of us try to schedule our way through change. We create detailed timelines, we block calendar time, we manage our minutes—but we completely ignore our energy. And energy is the true currency of change. This is where understanding your natural talents becomes so powerful. I've found that when you work through your natural pattern of talents—the things that energize rather than drain you—you actually create energy during change instead of just consuming it.
