Episode 049 of That Was Disappointing is Live.
It’s Still Real to Us Dammit!
Today’s Theme: Pro Wrestling. As in the Fake Wrestling. Try not to say that to any “sports entertainers” though as you’re likely to have your head shoved up your ass.
Our first topic is blood in wrestling. For the most part it’s a relic of the past, but Lex isn’t having it. He feels it’s a necessary evil that draws you into the storyline. Hey, at least he doesn’t think The People’s Elbow is a legit maneuver unlike some people who will remain nameless — Oh Hi, Producer Kenny!
Our second topic is supernatural elements in wrestling: fair or foul? The Undertaker, The Fiend/Bray Wyatt, etc., all of these guys use a little hocus pocus to “put butts in the seats,” but Al wants to know if it’s too hokey for it’s own good... like the Below The Belt Show. Zing!
Our third topic fills us all with dread... that horrible, no-good, rotten day when you learned wrestling was choreographed. Good thing we were too young to take Valium. Art never liked pro wrestling, so it didn’t bother him. The Easter Bunny on the other hand...
Our final topic is Chris Benoit’s erasure from history. New panelist Kevin was gifted a great topic, but he decided to go into business for himself (that’s some wrestling lexicon) and decided to end the episode on a double murder-suicide. That’ll do pig, that’ll do.
