Chris and Peter share stories about their trip to Montana while Phil shares a story about his trombone being seized by TSA. Thankfully Dr. Emily Moss joins us to share her musical journey, the importance of mentorship, and her approach to teaching conducting. We discuss the evolving landscape of music education careers, the challenges faced by educators, and the need for a cultural shift in how success is defined within the profession. The conversation is interspersed with humor and personal anecdotes, particularly around the unique challenges of playing the bassoon. (AI wrote that last sentence....it was too good, I had to leave it)

More About 'The Goonies': The Goonies is a 1985 American adventure comedy film directed by Richard Donner, who produced with Harvey Bernhard. The screenplay was written by Chris Columbus from a story by executive producer Steven Spielberg. A band of pre-teens who live in the "Goon Docks" neighborhood of Astoria, Oregon, attempt to save their homes from demolition, and, in doing so, discover an old Spanish map that leads them on an adventure to unearth the long-lost fortune of One-Eyed Willy, a legendary 17th-century pirate. During the entire adventure, they are chased by a family of criminals, who also want the treasure for themselves.

Dearest commuter, this week Phil and Peter share the same physical location resulting in noticeable tension during the show. Chris realizes that AI can now do podcasts better than this show (not a high bar). Thankfully, Dr. James Weaver, Director of Performing Arts and Sports for the National Federation of High School State Associations, visits with us to explain the implications of AI technology on music and education along with a number of other topics including the significant impact of the Aerosol Study during the pandemic, copyright compliance in music education, innovative recruitment strategies and the importance of collaboration and community support in music programs. Join us for what might be our last human podcast before AI just takes over.

Try hard not to confuse this episode with a guide for folks over 50 needing help with their vision. Mercifully, our guest saves our hosts from themselves. Bob Baca is a visionary trumpet player, educator and musical leader. Join us as we hear about hot dish, snowmobiles, middle school bands with recording contracts and more. The podcast also leans perilously close to a regular ending or collapseaTango.
