  • H.I. v. A.I. - One Emotes, The Other Mimics
    2025/07/17

This episode discusses Peter Csathy's latest musing about H.I. v. A.I. in the Arts and overall creative process -- with H.I. referring to Human Intelligence and the critical role of moment-in-time human emotion in the Artist's creative journey and resulting creative works (emotion that AI may be able to mimic, but never authentically capture). H.I. captures the Artist's emotional state of mind at the moment of creation -- whereas AI can only create based on past data (a historical record).

Csathy generated this episode using Google NotebookLM (with direction given relating to his article).

  • EMERGENCY POD: Kadrey v. Meta's "Fair Use" Decision - Don't Believe The Tech Bro Hype, Copyright Owners Are The Big Winners
    2025/06/26

In this emergency podcast episode, Peter Csathy's co-hosts discuss the second ground-breaking AI copyright "fair use" decision in the past two days - this time Judge Vince Chhabria's in Kadrey v. Meta (from the same federal district court in Northern California in which Judge William Alsup sits, and who decided "fair use" in Bartz v. Anthropic). This podcast - generated using Google NotebookLM - is based on Csathy's detailed written analysis of both cases. Csathy underscores that at first blush, both "fair use" decisions look like victories to AI developers. But he offers the convincing case as to why both decisions - especially the decision in Kadrey v. Meta - are actually huge wins for copyright owners. And he argues that these decisions will significantly heat up the AI licensing market.

  • On "AI & Entrepreneurship" - Interview with Peter Csathy
    2025/06/26

Host Peter Csathy was recently interviewed by Robert Milazzo who is a professor, creator and founder of The Modern School of Film — an educational studio that has produced hundreds of masterclasses and educational events to explore the intersections of community, craft and culture. Our topic? “AI Entrepreneurship.”

It’s a wide-ranging discussion that bounced from the practical and pragmatic (getting a job in the creative industries, and best positioning yourself) to the more philosophical (how AI will transform the creative arts, and what it means for Art itself).

  • New York's New AI "Synthetic Performer" Disclosure Law - Exposed!
    2025/06/24

Last week, just in time for Cannes Lions 2025 — the most important advertising industry soiree of the year — New York’s legislature passed a groundbreaking new law that requires advertisers (and those who create those ads) to conspicuously disclose when an AI-generated “synthetic human” is used in ads.

SAG-AFTRA called New York’s new law “a historic move marking a new era of transparency in artificial intelligence use in advertising … the first law in the country, and possibly in the world, to mandate disclaimers when consumers are being sold to by artificial intelligence-generated humans, or ‘synthetic performers.’” Now, as SAG-AFTRA pointed out in its statement, “If you are being sold to by a machine you will know it.

But there’s more to this new law as well. It represents both an acceptance of this new AI reality in which we all live — AND a nod to humanity’s primacy in the order of things.

In this week's episode, based on Peter Csathy's related article in his "the brAIn" newsletter, Csathy's synthetic co-hosts discuss it all -- laying out what this new law means, what it represents, and how major advertisers and their agencies are thinking about their work and craft in this time of accelerated AI development.

  • Hollywood Finally Joins The AI Copyright Fight! (Disney/NBCU Sue Midjourney)
    2025/06/17

Last week, host Peter Csathy called for Hollywood studios to finally cast aside their silence and join the AI copyright fight - to loudly voice the creative community's concerns about AI developers using their copyrighted works without consent and compensation. And two days later, Disney and NBCUniversal finally did - they sued generative image AI company Midjourney.

In this episode, Csathy's synthetic co-hosts discuss Csathy's most recent article, update and analysis of it all from his "the brAIn" newsletter, titled "Hollywood Finally Enters the AI Copyright Fight!" It's a focused - yet far-ranging discussion - of all the relevant key business and legal issues surrounding Disney's and NBCU's new lawsuit against Midjourney, as well as a preview of what to expect next.

Csathy generated the episode using Google NotebookLM - and he approves its content (and believes the conversation is helpful, insightful, and engaging).
