  • S2 E37 - Iconic Moments through the Generations
    2024/11/02

Steve and I discuss the requirements for something to be an iconic moment. I ponder why Kirk Gibson's homerun in the clinching game in 1984 is not as well known as his Game 1 homerun in 1989.

We use that example as a basis to discuss what makes a moment iconic. I ask if Freddie Freeman's grand slam will be iconic if the Dodgers lose (we now know they did not, so is it iconic?)

Others discussed, Tigers, Yankees, Aaron Judge, Mike Stanton, Juan Soto, Padres, Giants, Angels, Oakland A's, Canseco, McGwire, Rickey Henderson, Dennis Eckersley.

  • S2 E36 - Rivalries Too & Fernando
    2024/10/26

Steve postulates the biggest sports rivalry is Dodgers - Yankees outside of Lakers - Celtics.

I argue that Dodger fan can give a rip about the Yankees and they believe their hated rival is the Astros.

I explain to Steve that LA fandom in order is Lakers, USC, and then the Dodgers. He is not buying it.

We discuss the recency of Dodger rivals and if what Steve believes is true.

We give homage to the man that sparked Fernando-Mania.

Other names and topics mentioned: Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, Mike Stanton, Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodon, Freddy Freeman, Shohei Otani, Mookie Betts, Los Angeles, New York

  • S2 E35 - Aaaaaand We're BACK! For reals this time!
    2024/10/19

Apologies, I had some personal issues I needed to attend to and with all the travel and things going with both Steve and me, it just made it difficult to make things happen.

We discuss the advent of the Opener or Bullpen Game as the baseball playoffs are in full swing.

We discuss 1sts round QBs and I play a game with Steve having him give a quick score on 1st round QBs.

Steve asks me about VA coach Tony Bennett calling it quits.

Discussed: Dodgers, Willie Mays, Giants, Alex Smith Patrick Mahomes, Jared Goff, Matthew Stafford. Others

  • S2 E34 - Sports Milestones during the Generations
    2024/09/21

In light of Shohei Ohtani becoming the first player to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases, Steve and I discuss the sports milestones during our respective lifetimes.

Steve for whatever reason has a blind spot when it comes to Randy Johnson and I have to remind him of all of Randy's accomplishments. And, that he is went to USC and grew up in NorCal.

    2024/09/14

Not sure how we have not explicitly talked about this yet, but the fan experience has changed over the Generations.

    2024/08/31

Steve and I discuss the What If in sports. If a ball bounced a different way. If an injury didn't happen. How would the sports landscape have changed if things went a little differently?

  • S2 E31 - MLB MVPs over the Generations
    2024/08/24

Look at some MVPs and discuss the criteria for an MVP. We talk about a few that went to those maybe less deserving. We discuss some of the robberies.

And for once, it is not Steve that goes on a rant. It's me.

  • E2 S30 = Favorite Sports Movies over the Generations II
    2024/08/17

You asked for it. Our favorite movies over Generations Part II.

I gave you a bunch of deep cuts last time. This time, I give you a couple mainstreamers, but still give you my quirky picks.

Steve must be in a mood. It is weird. His picks went a direction I did not expect.
