The New Jersey Devils dropped their recent matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes 5-2. However, the main talking point was the collision between Timo Meier and Martin Necas in the third period. Upon review, the referees handed a Meier a game misconduct for kneeing Necas. But the final assessment was extremely controversial. To add insult to injury, Necas' theatrics certainly didn't make things any better.

The New Jersey Devils were hitting on all cylinders after the Christmas break. They defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 4-2 and remain the best team in the Eastern Conference. Luke Hughes had a big showing once again as he continues to be red-hot during the month of December. This is officially the two year anniversary in which a reporter said that he wasn't good.
