I had an awesome conversation with RCMP Officer Mark Bouchard. Mark and I get into his book "Setting My Sights On Stigma" and do a deep dive on culture, sleep, creating boundaries, and priorities and so much more!!!! We also discuss the trauma and shame often felt by not "taking the shot" . More about Mark:

My passion is helping police officers and first responders prepare for the emotional and psychological challenges of the job.

I developed this passion after sustaining my own psychological injury, as I was diagnosed with PTSD in 2015. Since then, I have spent years working on healing myself. Now my goal is to help other first responders, by reducing mental health stigma, and by teaching what has helped me to heal.

I have 17 years of experience in policing, with the Delta Police Department, and the RCMP. I have 10 years of experience in tactical policing, with two different Emergency Response Teams (SWAT), along with a decade as a tactical medic with an advanced care scope of practice. In 2024, I received a promotion into the RCMP’s National Tactical Medicine Program.

I also have many years experience on multiple peer support teams. I have completed a master’s degree in leadership with a research focus on police culture and the impacts on police officer mental health. I have combined that lived experience and research into my book Setting My Sights on Stigma: Thoughts From An Injured Mind, which is available now on Amazon.
