And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6) May we trust Christ this day and all days that He will be faithful to complete the work He began in us.

  • God Our Provider: He Cares for His Own

Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? (Matthew 6:25-26)

God provides for the birds. He will surely provide for you. Take a moment and think of all the ways God has provided for you in your life. You could take the rest of the day listing the ways. And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19) (ESV)

God provides for our needs, not out of scarcity, but from the abundance of His glory in Christ. We can trust His provision in all seasons of our lives.

  • Episode 14: God Is Eternal: He Is Everlasting

God has no beginning or end. He always was, is and will be. This is hard for us to understand as we have finite minds and God is infinite. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. (Psalm 90:2)

Steve Lawson states, God is independent of all creation and eternally self-sufficient. Before anything was made, God already existed. He requires nothing outside of Himself to be complete, for He is infinite in every aspect, including His eternality.” — Steve Lawson, Show Me Your Glory: Understanding the Majestic Splendor of God.

Isaiah 40:28: “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.”

Wayne Grudem defines mercy in this way: mercy is defined as “God’s goodness toward those in distress,” highlighting God’s compassionate and loving response to human suffering and sin. Grudem explains that mercy is distinct from grace.. Mercy involves God withholding deserved punishment and showing compassion, often associated with forgiveness and alleviation of human misery. (Grudem, Wayne. Systematic Theology: An Introduction to Biblical Doctrine. Zondervan, 1994.)

Psalm 103:8; “The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.

Ephesians 2:4-5 ; “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.”

  • The Goodness of God: Kindness in Jesus the Son

Psalm 34:8; “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.”

We see God’s goodness throughout the Bible. Nahum 1:7 states, The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him. We see God’s goodness to us in His Son. Jesus loves us, cares for us and is always with us. We can rejoice that God showed us mercy, not giving us what we deserve. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ by grace you have been saved (Ephesians 2:4-5).

  • The Sovereignty of God: A Doctrine of Great Comfort
    2024/09/12

    Send us a text

God is in absolute control of the universe. Paul states, And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent (Colossians 1:17-18). God makes His decisions at His divine pleasure, which is always right and good. God’s sovereignty is most beautifully seen in the life of His saints throughout redemptive history.

John Piper states, “God does all things according to His sovereign will, and nothing can frustrate or change His eternal purposes. Every event in the universe, from the most insignificant to the grandest, serves His designs and is in His control.” The Pleasures of God, Chapter 2: The Pleasure of God in All He Does.

  • The Wisdom of God: His Ways Are Perfect

A.W. Tozer states, “All God’s acts are done in perfect wisdom, first for His own glory, and then for the highest good of the greatest number for the longest time. And all His acts are as pure as they are wise, and as good as they are wise and pure.” This statement from Tozer beautifully captures the essence of God’s perfect wisdom. God was wise in creation: Proverbs 3:19 states, “By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding He set the heavens in place.” Isaiah 28:29 states, “All this also comes from the Lord Almighty, whose plan is wonderful, whose wisdom is magnificent.”
