  • Between Sessions - A Weekly Therapy Reflection - 02
    2025/06/14

This week, The Mister wrestles with the urge to get back into fitness, not just for health, but for the deeper itch to stick to something. Why do others master things while he hops between hobbies like Tigger on speed? Turns out, it's not about abs, it's about identity, consistency, and breaking generational patterns.

He also reflects on conversations he’s been seeing on Reddit, where men are opening up about low self-esteem, struggles with dating, and how hard it is to feel "enough" in a world that doesn’t teach them how.

Meanwhile, The Missus opens up about a tough and emotional conversation with her mum… one that ended quite seriously, tune in to find out.

Honest, raw, and just a little uncomfortable, as always.

  • Between Sessions - A Weekly Therapy Reflection - 01
    2025/06/07

In this week’s therapy debrief, one of us meets his inner DMN (Default Mode Network… or Demon, depending on the day) who’s behind the wheel of a bus within his head who's determined to detour them from doing anything remotely useful by taking him through the hard but known emotions and feelings. The other? She’s surviving the unhinged era, working through dissociation, overwhelm, and the slow crawl back to presence.

    It’s reflective. It’s chaotic. It’s therapy.

  • 02 - Age Gap Relationships
    2025/06/03

One of us is older. One of us is wiser. But let’s not get into which is which.
This week, we’re diving into age gap relationships, what people assume, what we’ve actually experienced, and how it affects everything from cultural expectations to bedtime routines (spoiler: someone needs a nap).

Whether you’ve been side-eyed for dating younger, or just wondering how different decades shape a marriage, this one’s for you.

  • 01 - Introduction
    2025/06/02

Welcome to Not Everything is Brown and White, a podcast about life, love, and the awkward mess in between.

We’re your hosts: a married couple who, on paper, probably shouldn’t work. One of us is older, one of us isn’t. One of us is white, one of us isn’t. One of us grew up with spicy food and community pressure, the other with roast dinners and a crippling fear of phone calls. Together, we navigate parenting, therapy, cultural clashes, and whose turn it is to make the tea, often with wildly different opinions and occasionally in the same room.

We talk about our reasons for starting this podcast, from spontaneous late-night conversations to processing what we’re learning in therapy, and how our differences have sparked some genuinely eye-opening moments. It’s part cultural commentary, part relationship therapy, and part “can we say this out loud?”, but always real.

This podcast isn’t about being experts. We’re not here to give advice. We’re not trying to fix anyone. What we are doing is letting you eavesdrop on the kind of conversations that happen behind closed doors, honest, raw, and occasionally interrupted by a small child throwing a cake.

    In this episode, you’ll hear:

Why we’re choosing to stay anonymous (for now)

How our cultural and generational differences show up in real life

What we’re learning from therapy (and each other)

Why this podcast exists, and what you can expect from future episodes

And maybe if you listen to the end an extra little titbit some of you may find interesting.

Whether you're in an age-gap relationship, navigating cultural identity, raising a family, unlearning old habits, or just here for the chaos, there’s probably something here you’ll relate to. Or argue with. Both are welcome.

Expect new episodes fortnightly, covering everything from parenting and therapy to marriage, race, and all the messy stuff no one preps you for.

Sometimes serious. Often silly. Always honest.

Subscribe and follow for more upcoming episodes.
