In this 4-part mini-series we explore how to bring a bit of OOOO to your work life: Optimism, Opportunity, Outgoing & Organisation. Four different topics, we explore the mindset, behaviours and tips that bring these to life in everyday practice. In this third episode we explore what being organised looks like in practice.

When we are feeling busy or overloaded with commitments, a sense of being organised is essential for keeping well amid times of pressure or change. It means different things to people (eg having a strategic vs operational preference) and will be different for different people within a team (having an introvert vs extravert preference) which can lead to disorganisation moments when working with different people.

Taking a ‘one size fits one’ approach we take a fly-through Dr Stephen Covey’s classic ‘7 Habits of Highly Effective People’ and bring it up to date with current topics around hybrid working, transformational change and industry pressures.

A useful listen for anyone who knows they have a pressuring time ahead with competing priorities- or wants a shared language to get better organised as a team.

In this 4-part mini-series we explore how to bring a bit of OOOO to your work life: Optimism, Opportunity, Outgoing & Organisation. Four different topics, we explore the mindset, behaviours and tips that bring these to life in everyday practice. In this second episode explore how to look after yourself and others when there are cutbacks, redundancies and a 'shrink' mentality in your workplace. As we discuss, this can create very unsettling and upsetting emotions. Not only for those who are at risk of redundancy, but also those who remain in their role who might be sad to see a colleague depart, and worried about increased workload.

We take a practical look at how to keep focused on the opportunity, remembering that as one door closes another could be about to open. No feeling is final, and sometimes upon reflection, an unwanted change due to a company cutback, can be the start of a better career path ahead.

A useful listen for anyone who has a stretching period ahead of them, or who is managing a team during a round of redundancy.

In this second part of our Confidence Enables Success mini-series, we explore the idea of taking a 'second mountain' in a career. As many mid-lifers find themselves re-evaluating their career journey it can be inspiring to remember that it is never too late to listen to our true self and pursue an inner calling. Rather than squeezing yourself to fit in, maybe its about having the confidence to expand and step out.

We are thrilled to be joined by Pippa Winn (aka Pippa Winner) who shares her experiences of pursuing her dream career as a curve model and actor at age 55. Having achieved huge success in her stellar career in beauty, she describes how inside she was feeling broken and knew something had to change. From working through significant life events and overcoming health setbacks, Pippa shares some hilarious and heartfelt moments (gold jumpsuit, anyone?) as a reminder that sometimes in our careers, the best is yet to come.

Pippa reminds us that no matter our age of experience, to dream BIG (we call this Bold, Inquisitive & Goalposts can move). She talks about the life-changing exercise of asking the big 4 questions (we summarise this at the end, but here is the original book: Ikigai Discover Your Purpose and Passion in Life

A reaffirming, funny and feelgood listen for those whom may resonate with the topics of handling health challenges, recently-diagnosed ADHD or a sense of feeling lost in their career.

  • 201. Preparation Empowers Confidence
    2024/09/06

    Send us a text

Welcome to our new mini-series where we explore how Confidence Enables Success. What does confidence mean to you? We define it as a general sense of capability in how we face new challenges and self-belief to keep focused on success during life's up and downs. In this first episode we focus on the impact feeling prepared has on how confident we feel inside.

The opposite of the 'fake it til you make it' approach, we take a look at the benefits of taking the time to practice and invest the hours in the preparation process. Whether preparing for an interview, presentation, tricky conversation or renegotiating a boundary - doing the homework of purposeful prep empowers you to hold your nerve in that moment. If cockiness shouts, then confidence whispers and it can be inspiring to acknowledge that behind most success stories there has been hours of practice to enable and sustain that performance.

As AI becomes mainstream in reducing task workload, sometimes there are benefits of going the long way around a challenge. Putting in the prep gives you the depth and self-belief that you know your stuff; even if unsuccessful in that moment, it may enable you to 'wing it' in a similar situation later.

A useful listen for those looking to step up their confidence and empower themselves in their role, or boost others towards fulfilling their success.
