  • Sabalenka on top again, Thiem's last dance in Vienna, Rafa & Novak's final battle
    2024/10/22

And another awesome rivalry comes to an end! This week, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic played their final match on a tennis court in Saudi Arabia at the Six Kings Slam to bring the curtain down on their epic head to head. Join Joel and Chris as they reflect on this match up along with all the other tennis talk from the week as Tommy Paul, Daria Kasatkina and a 36 year old (!) Roberto Bautista Agut won titles on the tour across Europe and Asia.

Chris also gives the inside scoop on what it’s like to attend the Nordic Open in Stockholm - and whether he was able to track down Magnus Norman for an interview. Elsewhere, Danielle Collins announced that she will play on the WTA Tour next year after postponing her end of season retirement, Aryna Sabalenka took over from Iga Swiatek as the World Number 1 at the top of the rankings, and we remark on Dominic Thiem’s last dance on a tennis court as he plays his final match at the Vienna Open.

  • Nadal calls time on epic career, Sabalenka + Sinner shine again, Wimbledon's tech overhaul
    2024/10/14

Get the tissues ready! Joel, Kim and Chris are back together to catch up on all things tennis, leading with the hot story that legend of the game Rafa Nadal will be hanging up his rackets in retirement at the end of this season. They reflect on this sad news as well as looking back on the past week’s tournaments which saw Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka continue their hot streaks and pick up the titles in Shanghai and Wuhan respectively.

In other news, the trio debate the news from The AELTC that Wimbledon will replace line judges with electronic calling from 2025 and moving the weekend singles finals to a late afternoon slot. Plus they review the now confirmed line up for the WTA Finals in Saudi Arabia, and controversial player behaviour - or as we like to call it men behaving badly - comes under the spotlight in the Mailbag section.

  • Alcaraz snatches Sinner win, WADA seeks Italian ban + Wimbledon plans get greenlight
    2024/10/02

The Asian swing is in full flow and what a treat we had in Beijing as Carlos Alcaraz battled back from the brink to defeat World Number 1 Jannik Sinner in a final set tiebreak. And that wasn't even the biggest news of the week for the Italian who expressed his 'surprise' at the World Anti-Doping Agency looking for a lengthy ban over his positive drug tests.

Elsewhere in Beijing, the WTA has reached the quarter-finals stage as Sabalenka continues to run riot whilst Paula Badosa is also making a charge up the ranking towards the Top 10. But there was despair for Naomi Osaka who retired against Coco Gauff with a back injury. And finally, there was more positive news for Wimbledon as they got the green light for a 39 court expansion with their ambition to create a three week festival of tennis in SW19. As always, Joel and Chris delve into the mailbag to talk Saudi exhibitions and one of our trickiest Mysterious Players yet.

    2024/09/08

The US Open 2024 Finals are upon us! After a fortnight of thrills, spills and few a shock along the way, Joel, Kim and Chris are back to look back at the men’s and women’s singles finals. Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka have made it two hard court slams from two this year, with straight sets victories over first time American finalists Taylor Fritz and Jessica Pegula respectively.

The trio delve into the key talking points from both finals, as well as celebrating some success for Great Britain with Mika Stojsavljevic becoming the first British girls' Grand Slam champion in 15 years. Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson also righted their recent Wimbledon heartbreak by clinching the Men’s Doubles title at Flushing Meadows with victory over Krawietz and Puetz.

And lastly, the latest winner of Collect A Set is announced, which once again came down to a tiebreak…!

  • US Open SFs - Draper voms as Sinner triumphs, Pegula set for Sabalenka Showdown
    2024/09/07

Semis, semis, semis and there was a bit of everything on show at the US Open - including a bit of Jack Draper vom on the tennis court. That aside, it was Jannik Sinner who reached his first Grand Slam final in Flushing Meadows with a straight sets victory over the Brit in conditions that pushed both competitors to the limit.

And the Italian will go on to face Taylor Fritz who became the first American since 2009 to reach a Major final (Andy Roddick at Wimbledon!) with a five set win over Frances Tiafoe who was running on empty by the end.

And in the women’s draw, we may not have got the Battle of the Billionaire daughters but Jessica Pegula powered into her debut Slam final with a three set win over Karolina Muchova to set up an intriguing duel with Aryna Sabalenka who is chasing her second Major title of the season.

Lots to discuss as always with Joel, Kim and Chris including a look ahead to the two finals this weekend and who we think will come out as the victors.

  • US Open QFs - Pegula + Fritz lead US charge on titles, magic Draper strolls into Sinner semi
    2024/09/05

The Americans are coming for a US Open title with 4 American players into the last 4 across the men’s and women’s events. Could it be an all American double and one of Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe taking home the title along with Jessica Pegula or Emma Navarro?

Trying to stop the American party in New York is World Number 1 Jannik Sinner who got his revenge over Daniil Medvedev for his Wimbledon loss and set up a semi-final against Britain’s Jack Draper. Draper is the first British player to make the semi-final’s since Andy Murray won the title in 2012. Can he match the achievement this weekend?

Elsewhere Karolina Muchova made it into the last 4 for the second successive year having missed the first two slams of the season through injury. She had to battle a stomach bug as well as Haddad Maia but made sure she sealed her place in the last 4.

Joel and Chris also make predictions as to who will win the semi-finals and what the scoreline will be so make sure you let us know if you agree with them!
