  • Episode 105: The Importance Of Self-Grace
    2024/07/04

This episode looks at why having self-grace is so important to your well-being. I also share with you how you can cultivate more self-grace and self-forgiveness in your daily life so you learn not to beat yourself up every time things do not go as you planned or expected.

"You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection." — Buddha

"Grace means that all of your mistakes now serve a purpose instead of serving shame." — Brené Brown

I believe this episode is especially important for all my fellow perfectionists and high performers out there. It is also a must-listen for those who tend to put too much pressure on themselves or those who set unrealistic goals.

  • Episode 104: How to Stop Wasting Your Time and Money In the Wrong Relationships
    2024/06/27

This episode is taken from an online training session where I taught on how to stop wasting your precious time, money, and efforts with the wrong people. When we find ourselves in a romantic relationship and especially where we invest a significant amount of effort, we will want to know that it doesn’t go to waste. And while we may not be able to predict the future, we can however put certain measures in place to minimize the chances of ending up disappointed in the relationship choices we make. This gives us a sense of empowerment as we consciously and intentionally seek out what we want and need from a relationship.

"Stop spending your time, effort and money on relationships that don't enrich your life. Focus on connections that foster mutual growth and fulfilment, and let go of those that deplete your energy and resources. True relationships should add to your life, not subtract from it." - Anne Hellgren

If you know someone who needs to hear this message, please share it with them. It might just help them break dysfunctional relationship patterns and start living more intentionally.

The lessons learned from this episode can also be applied to many other areas of your life, beyond your relationships. So make sure you listen to the full episode!

  • Episode 102: Surviving and Thriving after a Psychotic Breakdown - Interview with Liv Slania
    2024/06/13

In this episode, I have a very candid conversation with Liv Slania, a Criminal Justice peer supporter and the Founder of Superheroics. Liv shares her story of how she found herself getting arrested for arson with an attempt to murder, which carries a life sentence. Her psychosis breakdown led to a series of events that forever changed her life. She lost everything, including her home, friends, and everything she knew to be real.

“Don’t live your life skeptical of giving kindness to others in fear that your kindness will be used as a weakness. Give it anyway, and let others decide what they do with it. Then decide to keep repeating your kindness based on their actions, not just their words.” - Anne Hellgren

“We learn so much more through adversity and the difficult times than when things are easy. But it can sometimes take only one word of hope to change so much in someone going through mental illness.” - Liv Slania

This story is bound to move you to the core as she shares what it feels like to go through a psychotic breakdown, get detached from reality, and not even know what is or isn’t real. She speaks about her suicidal thoughts and planning after being arrested for arson and facing a lifetime sentence.

She also shares how she came out of this horrible place and what she describes as a living hell. Her current work around mental health and her work in her own company that she founded - Superheroes - is inspirational and extremely empowering for all.

This episode is not just for those who have some connection to mental illness but for us all as a society to understand how we can support and provide hope to those in need.

If you have any mental health issues or know someone who does, please get in touch with Liv Slania on her details below. No one should be suffering alone, and please remember that you are never alone.

  • Episode 101: Overcoming Adversity and Building Resilience - Interviewed by Caroline Carey of Soul Purpose Podcast
    2024/06/06

This is an interview I had as a guest on the Soul Purpose Podcast by Caroline Carey. I had a deep, honest and raw conversation about some of the struggles I experienced growing up during my childhood, teen years and adult life.

“Who would YOU really be if you:

    1. Got rid of your unwanted cultural, religious, parental or societal programming?
    2. Stopped worrying about what others think of you?
    3. Showed up for yourself and your loved ones more authentically?

    Read that again.”

    - Anne Hellgren

The aim of sharing this episode is the hope that we can learn that our difficulties do not need to define our future. We have the ability and power to work on ourselves and the healing we need. We can choose another path other than the one we have experienced or normalized through societal, cultural, or other such programming. If we want another path for our life, then we must intentionally and actively choose to do the work to get to where we want to go. It is not easy, but we must be brave enough to break those dysfunctional patterns.

Make sure you listen to the full episode as it is really about inspiring and encouraging people to overcome challenges and thrive past them. This is an impactful episode – one I truly believe everyone should listen to as we all experience certain levels of programming or trauma.

If you have found this useful and know someone who needs to hear this message, please share it with them. It will not only benefit them, but you could also gain the awesome feeling of knowing that you are blessing someone else through your share!

  • Episode 99: Stop Repeating Dysfunctional Relationship Patterns
    2024/05/23

This is taken from an episode where David Roberts interviewed me on his podcast, ‘People with Purpose.’ David and I discuss self-worth, surrounding yourself with the right people, and taking responsibility for your health and choices. We also discuss the importance of living an authentic life rather than one expected of you or simply to please others.

“If you had 1 year to live:

    • What would you stop doing that no longer serves you?

    • What would you start doing?

    • Most importantly- WHO would you really want to spend more time with?

Start now… You might not even have that 1 year left…” - Anne Hellgren

    KEY TAKEAWAYS:

    • We all develop bad habits, including entering and staying in bad relationships. Fortunately, habits can be broken.

    • Children who see ongoing abuse in the family tend to be more likely to tolerate or perpetuate it in their adult lives because it feels normal to them.

    • Build a strong relationship with your kids, have deep conversations with them, and stay approachable so they feel confident about opening up to you as they grow up.

    • Many bad decisions could be avoided if we learned to love ourselves more and recognize our self-worth.

    • Periodically, pause and review your life—the direction you are going in—and ask if your relationships, friends, jobs, etc. are still serving you.

    • Worrying too much about what others think of you will hinder your growth and happiness.

    • Take the time to assess and question your religious or cultural programming. Many of us go through unnecessary pain and unhappiness following traditions and beliefs created by previous generations that neither apply to us anymore nor serve us at all.

If you have found this useful and know someone who needs to hear this message, please share it with them. It will not only benefit them, but you could also gain the awesome feeling of knowing that you are blessing someone else through your share!

  • Episode 98: How To Feel More Aliveness!
    2024/05/09

I believe we all need to feel a sense of aliveness within and around us at some level or another. Aliveness can be described in various ways, and some may use the words excitement, drive, growth, or anything else that expresses their desire to feel an inner explosion of joy, energy, peace, love, hope, etc.

“One of my greatest fears is to get to the end of my life and realize I spend it Alive but without Aliveness.” - Anne Hellgren

This episode focuses on 3 things that can bring us a sense of aliveness! While many things can make us feel alive, these are my favorite Top 3:

    1. Purpose - Discover what your life’s purpose is and spend your time doing that.
    2. Passions - Spend more time doing what makes your heart sing.
    3. Peace - Your level of peace of mind has the power to bring you bliss or misery. Practice cultivating a peaceful mindset.
